Iringa Development of Youth and Disabled Children Care (IDYDC) is proud to be selected as one of the partner organizations under the Going Beyond – Partnering for a Youth-Led Future project, implemented by Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) with support from the Mastercard Foundation.
This partnership marks an important milestone in IDYDC’s ongoing commitment to empowering young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive in a rapidly changing digital economy.
What Going Beyond Means for Young People
Going Beyond is a youth-led initiative designed to equip young Africans with digital, business, and leadership skills, enabling them to create livelihoods, innovate solutions, and uplift their communities. Through a peer-to-peer model, trained youth facilitators support fellow young people to build practical skills that respond to local realities.
Across Africa, the initiative aims to reach hundreds of thousands of young people, with implementation already underway in Tanzania and Malawi, and expansion into Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire.
IDYDC’s Role in the Partnership
As a youth-serving organization rooted in community development, IDYDC brings years of experience working with young people, including those facing social, economic, and educational barriers. Through this partnership, IDYDC will contribute to delivering digital business training while ensuring inclusion, safeguarding, and community ownership remain at the center of implementation.
The partnership allows IDYDC to scale up existing youth empowerment efforts, reaching more young women and men particularly those who are marginalized, with relevant skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and social innovation.
A Youth-Led, Collaborative Approach
What makes Going Beyond unique is its emphasis on collaboration rather than hierarchy. Partner organizations work closely with DOT to co-create and adapt the program to local contexts, ensuring it responds to real needs on the ground.
This approach recognizes young people not just as beneficiaries, but as leaders, trainers, and change-makers within their own communities.
Strengthening Communities Through Skills and Opportunity
Beyond training young people, Going Beyond also supports partner organizations to strengthen their own capacities. Through mentorship and learning opportunities, IDYDC will continue to grow as an organization, enhancing its ability to deliver impactful, youth-centered programs.
For communities served by IDYDC, this partnership represents new opportunities for young people to access digital skills, build sustainable livelihoods, and actively participate in shaping their futures.
Looking Ahead
IDYDC is excited to be part of a growing network of youth-led and youth-serving organizations across Africa working toward a shared vision: a future where young people are equipped, empowered, and trusted to lead development in their communities.
As implementation progresses, IDYDC looks forward to sharing stories, lessons, and impact from young people participating in the Going Beyond program.
