Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Healthy habits, safe environments, thriving communities.
About the Program
Access to safe water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices is essential for healthy children, youth, and communities. IDYDC’s WASH program works to improve water and sanitation facilities, promote hygiene awareness, and reduce preventable diseases in schools and communities.
Our work includes:
Safe water access: Supporting the provision and maintenance of clean water sources in schools and communities.
Sanitation improvements: Constructing and rehabilitating latrines, handwashing stations, and other essential facilities.
Hygiene promotion: Educating children, youth, and community members on proper handwashing, menstrual hygiene, and overall healthy practices.
School and community engagement: Working with schools, parents, and local leaders to establish WASH committees and ensure sustainable practices.
Preventing disease: Reducing the incidence of waterborne and hygiene-related illnesses to improve school attendance, learning outcomes, and overall community well-being.
Through this program, IDYDC helps create healthy, safe, and dignified environments, empowering children and communities to thrive physically, socially, and academically.
