Sports for Development
The Power of Play for Positive Change
About the Program
At IDYDC, we believe that sports are a powerful tool for empowering youth, building skills, and fostering social change. Our Sports for Development program provides structured football and recreational activities for children and youth, while also serving as a platform to deliver education, health, and child protection messages in an engaging way.
Our work includes:
Youth sports training: Providing children and youth with football and other recreational activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, leadership, and discipline.
Cross-cutting engagement: Using sports as an entry point to deliver health, education, and child protection awareness, reaching children who might not otherwise participate in programs.
Gender and social inclusion: Encouraging girls, children with disabilities, and marginalized youth to participate, fostering equality, confidence, and social cohesion.
Community leagues and events: Organizing competitions and events that build community cohesion, promote positive role models, and encourage youth participation in social development.
Project integration: Collaborating with other programs (Health, Child Protection, Education) to use the football pitch and sports activities as a practical platform for learning and behavior change.
Through this program, IDYDC not only develops athletic skills but also empowers youth socially and emotionally, turning sports into a catalyst for personal growth and community development.
